Set Ticket Pricing

After a ticket is created on the General Info tab, the next step is to set its price.

There are two pricing modes to choose from: standard and pay-what-you-can.

Standard Pricing is the default and allows you to set a specific value for a ticket. Pay-what-you can Pricing allows you to set a minimum price for the ticket while giving the buyer the ability to pay as much as they would like to.

Note: Once the first ticket is sold the pricing mode cannot be changed.

Standard Ticket Pricing

On the ticket’s  Pricing tab ‘Standard Pricing’ will be selected by default.

Enter the ticket price and make sure your tax rate is set correctly.

There are a few different ways to display the price to your ticket buyers. The default is for tax and fees to be shown separately at check-out. In the dropdown selector you can also choose to include the tax, fees, or both in the price displayed.

When including tax and fees in the price displayed you might need to adjust the base ticket price to allow for a nice round number. For reference, the price that will be displayed to the ticket buyer is shown in large type.

For example, if you wanted to have a $20 ticket with the fee included, you might need to set the base price to $19 to accomodate a $1 fee (depending on your plan). $19+$1=$20.

Once everything looks good click ‘save’.

Note: Changing the price after some tickets have been sold can make your sales reports more difficult to understand. In most cases it’s better to create a new ticket. If editing a ticket's price is essential, you can do that by clicking the ‘Change prices?’ link to unlock the price editing fields.

Pay-what-you-can Ticket Pricing

On the ticket’s  Pricing tab select ‘pay-what-you-can’.

Set the ticket’s minimum price. Keep in mind that all transactions above $0 are subject to processing costs. Consider setting a minimum price to account for that expense.

If there’s a price you’d like to aim for enter it in the ’suggested price’ field and it will be displayed as a suggestion to the ticket buyer.

Make sure your tax rate is set correctly and click ‘save’.
